Temple History:

The temple is celebrated as Tirupathi of South.  According to tradition, Lord of Seven Hills came here for hunting and stayed here itself to take care of His devotees.  The Mount is but Adishesha (divine snake) Himself.  The Lord offers all that His devotees need.  There is a holy spring at the foothills with Lotus and other water flowers that ensure cleansing of the sins of the devotee with boons of his/her need.  It is named Koneri theertham.


Greatness Of Temple:

Those unable to visit Tirupathi may visit this temple and offer their prayer commitments.


Thanks giving:

Tonsuring, donating cattle, utensils and measuring articles made of silver and gold, cash and other articles are largely offered by devotees especially on Saturdays in the month of Purattasi (September-October).





Prayer:

For satisfactory marriage alliances, children, development of business and agriculture and promotions in job are boons devotees seek from the Lord of this temple. It is believed that job promotions are sure once the devotee visits and prays in the temple.

Prayer commitments:
Donating cattle and head shaving are mainly the commitment people undertake in this temple. The crowd is more during Saturdays in the Tamil month of Purattasi (September-October). People also offer vessels and articles made of silver and gold.

Opening Time:

The temple is opened from 6.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.


Reputation:
The place is known as Then Tirupathi – Tirupathi of the South. Those unable to make a long journey to Tirupathy, come to this temple. The temple is located on a hill in a beautiful environment. As the tank is in front of the temple, it so appears as if the temple is on a wide land area.

Festivals:
Every Saturday and those in the month of Purattasi (September-October) in particular are special puja days in the temple.

How to Reach Temple: Thiruvannamalai is 50 Kms from Virudhunagar and 5 from Srivilliputhur. Comfortable lodges are available in Srivilliputhur. It would be easier to go to the temple from Srivilliputhur. Charges are nominal ranging from Rs. 100 to Rs. 300.

Adequate bus facilities are available from Madurai, Tirunelveli to Srivilliputhur and from there too buses are available to Thiruvanamalai. Nearest railway station is Srivilliputhur and Madurai. Airport Madurai.
